“One By Lonely One” is a story song about an artificial being, an Automaton, voyeuristically analyzing their elderly creator from a distance as they try to unravel the meaning of their existence. Originally, this song started (as many of my songs do) as a poetry exercise (written in the Denver Airport.) However, quickly after writing it, I became enamored with the bizarre imagery the story evoked and sought to adapt it into song. However, the evolution didn’t stop there- because I decided to adapt the song into short comic format as well! The notion of hybridizing two of the artistic mediums I am most passionate about was a rare and beautiful opportunity I couldn’t pass up. So, if you are listening to this single, I hope you will also feel inclined to check out the short comic as a kind of “physical music video” for the song!
